Our Eco-Friendly Play Celebration Continues: Bloggers, Toys & This Week's Giveaway!

From Bloggers to Teachers, Moms and Eco-friendly brands, the internet is buzzing with tips on how to “Go Green” and celebrate Earth Day’s Big 4-0.

Over the past week we’ve found some really great suggestions, tips and crafts from some of our favorite bloggers and thought we’d share a few:

* Secrets of a Super Mommy– quite a few posts featuring some really unique crafts using recycled material.

* Mommy Perks– Great post featuring 20 Earth Day Tips on everything from getting rid of bugs to cloth diapering.

* NuggleMama’s Handful– Participating in an Earth Day Challenge this blogger talks about the simple changes she’s made in her every day efforts to become more green.

* Mommy Niri– Talking about children’s television shows teaching about Earth Day.

* Mommy Poppins– Lists some great Earth Day activities going on in NYC. Even if you are not in NYC, it can give you some ideas to look into in your area.

Because we believe teaching kids from a young age about caring for the environment and living green can plant the seeds for an eco-conscious adult-

We here at The Big Toy Book were so excited to celebrate fun-filled Eco-friendly play,  we began our celebration last week .

.

When it comes to “playing green” price is often a concern. However we’ve noticed that as the green trend is growing, more and more manufacturers are finding ways to reduce those once hefty price tags.

Citiblocs manufactures great wooden alternatives to plastic building blocks. Their sets come in various sizes which makes them affordable just about any budget!

Sprig is a popular brand that manufactures its affordable green toys from “Sprig Wood,” which is a combination of wood and recycled plastic. Their Dolphin Explorer Boat won Specialty Toy of The Year at Toy Fair this year.

Recently, Sprig Toys joined the Wham-o Family and are busy reinventing some of those classic & favorite toys such as Frisbees and Hula Hoop from Sprigwood in an effort to go green.

Other companies, such as DuneCraft and Insect Lore are great brands that promote teaching children green living through their hands on with nature kits.
